Senate Passes Patent Office Reforms, Still Waiting for House

A simple search creates a multitude of hits on the proposed patent reform bill that the Senate has passed. I'm not sure how I feel about this bill. It removes the first to invent statute to be replaced by a first to file system. This is a huge change in the US system but more in line with the world. There are plenty of good arguments on both sides. Administratively it is definitely easier to have a first to file system and this also lessens litigation. However this definitely benefits larger manufactures/companies in some ways. Less litigation and more certainty will probably prevail over whatever nostalgia there is for the traditional US first to invent system.
